On October 21, 2018, 423 cyclists became community champions in Seminole County. During the 6th annual Champions Ride for Charities, hosted by The Rotary Club of Lake Mary, participants pedaled to raise $35,000, which will positively impact the lives of local residents.

“We are thrilled that one of Florida’s most popular rides has also grown into a successful fundraiser for local charities,” said Rotarian Brian Bacon. “It’s inspiring to watch cyclists ride alongside each other with a shared mission and passion for this community.”

Funds raised from the event are awarded to local charities including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida (Seminole County branches) and The Sharing Center of Seminole County.

The funds will also benefit charities supported by the first responders of Seminole County and Lake Mary Law Enforcement Officers, and Fire and Rescue Personnel. This year, the Fire Department is supporting Hugz from Bugz, a local non-profit that raises money to help families affected by cancer.

Everyone is welcome to ride – the event is specifically designed to include cyclists of all experience levels with routes from 10 miles up to 103 miles. During the sought-after ride, participants navigated beautiful and smooth terrain through Seminole County, into Volusia County, and as far north as DeLeon Springs.

Mark your calendar to join the ride next year, October 20, 2019. Updates will be posted on Champions Ride for Charities and on Facebook: Champions Ride for Charities on Facebook.
